Description
Another painting in my series of bagpipes, this piece is one of the drones from the Grainger bagpipes that belonged to my Father-In-Law’s uncle Horace MacCombie. The pipes are from the mid to late 40’s and haven’t been played for nearly 40 years. The drones are adorned with silver and ivory and are really quite spectacular to the point that the paintings I have done really don’t quite do them justice. This piece is painted with Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paints on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. The coarse paper and heavily granulated paints help to add the textures necessary to add increased interest to this piece. The original is 14”x10.25” in size.
