I let my five year old son come up with the name for this piece and he chose "Friendship Dahlia" so that was good enough for me. I had a lot of fun adding some dark depth to this piece. I began with some light washes of Cadmium Yellow to create a glow in the final piece followed by some Permanent Rose to define the petals. I finished with a mix of Winsor Red and Venetian Red. The original is 10" x 14" in size and was painted with Winsor & Newton, Daniel Smith, Sennelier, and Rublev watercolor paints on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper.
