Another in my series of floral paintings, this one used a lot of techniques that were experimental for me. I painted the background of the piece extremely dark and at the end used a wet paper towel to "twist" the paint away in order to lighten it and create textures. The piece was originally quite a bit larger but when it was done I felt that it was too busy so I cropped away some of it to improve the composition. The original is 6.5"x9.25" inches in size and is painted with 18th century reproduction watercolor paint and Daniel Smith watercolor paint on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper.
