This azalea has been sitting in the center of my dining room table for the last couple months and I thought it would make a nice addition to my floral series of paintings. I took a bit of a different direction with this piece in that I wanted to accentuate the bright light that was shining on the flower. The original is 10.25"x14" in size and is painted with a combination of Daniel Smith, Rublev 18th century reproduction, and Winsor and Newton paints. I used Arches 140# cold-pressed paper which created some nice textures due to some of the paints heavy granulation characteristics.
