Artist's Description
This old cast iron spoon was tough for me to draw due to the extremely poor fashion in which it was cast. I didn't know how perfect I wanted it to be or if I wanted the painting to reflect the poor casting. In the end, as in typical watercolor fashion, it defined itself. The piece is painted with 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# paper.
After several years, I finally learned that these spoons are *Welsh Love Spoons* so I changed the titles of the pieces. Artist Jean Haines noticed them and let me know their origins. Wikipedia has an excellent explanation of the origins of these pieces: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_spoon
